I saw this concept car at the 1995 New York Auto Show, well before my first Miata.
When asked by a Mazda rep for my opinion on the coupe, I told them it was nice, but would be perfect if they cut off the roof.

Mazda did build a production coupe for sale in Japan, but they are NB based cars.

Production numbers are unknown. Built from 2003-2005 with a production run somewhere between 500-1000 cars total.

I wouldn't mind this at all. It looks pretty neat. Do you think it could actually happen one day?
