Miata Manifold noise

Postby ctambz » October 3rd, 2017, 1:04 pm

Hello all,

My '90 has recently started making a strange rattling noise when it's revved above 4k rpm. I'm not sure where it is coming from, but it's making a lot of noise from the Manifold. I've checked for loose heat shields like miata.net suggests, but couldn't seem to find anything. I've attached a small clip for reference.

With the car securely supported on jack stands, have someone gently and slowly bring the car through the rev range that makes the noise. You can them use a screw driver to push on the heat shield that is making the noise. You may be able to use a self drilling screw to attach the broken clip back to the pipe or if you aren't worried about driving with out the shield, tear it off.
